Take ye olde deep breath and enjoy the mountain air. This green, expansive playground has got it all; lush countryside, serene and rocky cliffs, a quaint village with remnants of the old world all nestled around the modern shore side business center.
Welcome to Windenburg — a world defined by contrast, character, and timeless charm. Inspired by the rolling countryside and historic towns of central and southern Germany, this richly layered world blends storybook tradition with bold, contemporary living.
At its heart, Windenburg celebrates the beauty of fachwerkhaus-style architecture — traditional timber-framed homes with steep roofs, exposed beams, and centuries-old charm — sitting comfortably alongside sleek waterfront apartments and modern cultural hubs. Cobblestone streets wind through ivy-covered villages, while dramatic cliffs and open green spaces frame a shoreline buzzing with modern energy.
Designed as a place where past and present coexist, Windenburg offers endless storytelling potential — whether your Sims are drawn to quiet village life, creative city living, or somewhere perfectly in between.
🎨 Real-World Roots, Inspiration & Architectural Vision

Architectural forms, material details, and neighbourhood atmosphere inspired by traditional German towns and villages, blended with modern European waterfront living.
Windenburg draws its inspiration from central and southern regions of Germany, where historic towns are defined by fachwerkhaus architecture — traditional timber-framed buildings with exposed beams, steeply pitched roofs, and centuries-old character. These storybook villages are balanced by dramatic coastlines and contemporary urban developments, creating a world where heritage and progress exist side by side.
Rather than recreating one specific real-world location, Windenburg captures the essence of historic European living — walkable village centres, communal gathering spaces, and architecture shaped by time, craft, and daily life. Cobblestone streets, ivy-clad façades, and castle-inspired landmarks evoke a sense of history, while the waterfront districts introduce clean lines, glass, and modern materials that signal a forward-looking city.
This intentional contrast is at the heart of Windenburg’s identity. Old Town neighbourhoods feel intimate, layered, and rooted in tradition, while New Town areas embrace openness, light, and contemporary lifestyles. Together, they form a world that supports a wide range of Sim stories — from quiet, generational living to vibrant, social, modern life.
The architectural vision for Windenburg is rooted in:
- Traditional German timber-framed (fachwerkhaus) homes with exposed beams and steep roofs
- Medieval village influences, including cobblestone streets, town squares, and historic landmarks
- Natural materials such as stone, wood, and plaster, softened by age and texture
- Modern European design elements in waterfront and urban areas, featuring clean lines, open layouts, and expansive windows
Rather than choosing between old or new, Windenburg is designed to celebrate both — a place where tradition adds depth, modernity brings energy, and every neighbourhood feels purposeful, cohesive, and rich with storytelling potential.
🗺️ Neighbourhood Planning & World Layout
Windenburg has been planned as a world of intentional contrast, designed around distinct neighbourhood identities, natural movement through the landscape, and rich long-term storytelling — not as a collection of disconnected lots.
The map on the left shows the neighbourhood structure used for planning and orientation, with areas grouped by architectural era, lifestyle focus, and community function.
The map on the right offers a visual interpretation of how Windenburg comes together once homes, landmarks, and shared spaces are in place.

✨ A World of Old Stories & New Beginnings
Windenburg’s makeover is more than a visual refresh — it’s a celebration of contrast, connection, and continuity.
Each thoughtfully designed home and shared space reflects the layered rhythms of life in this world, where centuries-old traditions sit comfortably beside modern routines. Cobblestone streets encourage slower moments, waterfront paths invite movement and energy, and every neighbourhood offers a distinct way of living without ever feeling disconnected.
My hope is that this version of Windenburg invites Sims — and players — to explore both sides of its identity. A place where legacy families can put down roots, creatives can thrive in modern spaces, and stories naturally unfold across generations, friendships, and everyday moments.
Windenburg isn’t about choosing between past or present — it’s about letting them exist together. A world shaped by history, energised by modern life, and ready to become whatever your story needs it to be.
