🦇 Ravenwood

Things always get a little spooky in Ravenwood. The Whispering Glen with its nightly Moon Revelry festivities is perhaps the most “normal” part of the area, where locals have settled down for a slice of quiet, country life. Crow’s Crossing village, however, is clearly quite haunted – swings swaying by themselves, that Merchant fellow down by the Crypt, scary little Edith guarding the Well of Longing and Regret,… But despite the hauntings, the living have certainly made it their home as well with a variety of festivals and places to explore. Mourningvale is where things get extra ethereal! It’s well known as a home for Ghosts and those seeking them. Sometimes Grim even stops by!

Welcome to Ravenwood — a world where the past clings to every shadow, mist drifts through narrow streets, and the line between the living and the supernatural is never quite clear.

Inspired by the eerie beauty of Transylvania, Ravenwood draws heavily from the region’s rich folklore and the ornate drama of Romanian Revival architecture. Steeply pitched roofs, ivy-draped façades, wrought iron details, and candlelit windows give the world a sense of age, reverence, and quiet unease — as though every building has a story it’s reluctant to tell.

Life here unfolds slowly and deliberately. Candlelight flickers in old cafés, church bells echo through fog-filled evenings, and secrets linger just beneath the surface. Whether your Sims are drawn to tradition, forgotten legends, or the pull of the unknown, Ravenwood invites them to settle in, explore cautiously, and embrace the shadows that make this world feel hauntingly alive.

🎨 Real-World Roots, Inspiration & Architectural Vision

Architectural forms, material details, and neighbourhood atmosphere inspired by Transylvanian folklore, Romanian Revival architecture, and old-world gothic traditions.

Ravenwood draws its inspiration from Transylvania, a historic and culturally rich region of Romania long associated with folklore, legend, and gothic storytelling. The world’s architectural identity is deeply rooted in Romanian Revival style, blending medieval influences, ornate craftsmanship, and romantic grandeur into a setting that feels both haunting and timeless.

Rather than recreating a single real-world location, Ravenwood captures the essence of old European gothic towns — places shaped by centuries of history, superstition, and ritual. Buildings feel weathered but intentional, designed to tell stories through form, detail, and atmosphere rather than scale or modern polish.

The goal is a world that feels layered and lived-in, where architecture supports mystery and storytelling. Streets curve instead of grid, structures loom rather than sprawl, and the environment encourages exploration, pause, and quiet unease — perfect for supernatural tales, legacy gameplay, and dramatic Sim narratives.

The architectural vision for Ravenwood is rooted in:

  • Romanian Revival and gothic influences, with steeply pitched roofs, towers, arches, and ornate silhouettes
  • Decorative materials and details, including wrought ironwork, carved stone, aged brick, and ivy-draped façades
  • Candlelit and shadow-heavy design, using narrow windows, lantern lighting, and layered textures
  • Layouts that feel historic and intentional, favouring courtyards, enclosed spaces, and winding paths over open modern plans

Rather than feeling pristine or contemporary, Ravenwood embraces imperfection, age, and atmosphere. These are buildings shaped by time — places that feel heavy with memory, quietly dramatic, and endlessly rich for storytelling.ins.itecture doesn’t just house Sims—it reflects who they are and what they might become.

🗺️ Neighbourhood Planning & World Layout

Ravenwood has been planned as a purpose-built gothic world, designed around atmosphere, storytelling, and the natural separation between the living and the supernatural — not as a collection of interchangeable lots.

The map on the left shows the neighbourhood structure used for planning and orientation, with areas shaped by function, folklore, and historical weight, rather than modern convenience. The map on the right offers a visual interpretation of how Ravenwood comes together once architecture, terrain, and environmental storytelling are fully in place.

Rather than open flow and connectivity, Ravenwood favours intentional distance, contrast, and progression. Each neighbourhood feels distinct in tone and purpose, encouraging Sims to move through the world with curiosity, caution, and narrative intent.

🕯️ Mourningvale

A solemn, ethereal district closely tied to death, remembrance, and the supernatural. Mourningvale is home to ghosts, seekers of the occult, and Sims drawn to the space between worlds, making it ideal for haunted residences, museums, and lore-rich storytelling locations.

🌲 Whispering Glen

The quietest and most “settled” part of Ravenwood, Whispering Glen offers a subdued slice of everyday life. Nestled among trees and mist, this neighbourhood suits reclusive households, old family homes, and Sims seeking solitude — all while remaining gently touched by the world’s supernatural undertones.

🐦 Crow’s Crossing

Ravenwood’s social and civic heart, Crow’s Crossing is where the living gather despite the shadows that linger. Community lots, markets, taverns, and nightlife coexist with looming architecture and whispered legends, creating a space where normal life and the uncanny intersect.

🕯️ A World Shaped by Memory & Shadow

Ravenwood’s makeover is more than a gothic reimagining — it’s a celebration of atmosphere, storytelling, and the quiet power of place.

Each carefully crafted home, ruin, and gathering space is designed to feel steeped in history, where architecture carries emotion and the environment invites curiosity. Streets are meant to be wandered slowly, buildings to be studied closely, and moments to unfold in hushed conversations, candlelit evenings, and stories whispered rather than spoken aloud.

My hope is that this version of Ravenwood invites Sims — and players — to lean into slower, more intentional storytelling. A world where legacies are shaped by secrets, where the past lingers just beneath the surface, and where every lot feels ready to hold stories of loss, love, mystery, and transformation.

Ravenwood isn’t about spectacle or shock — it’s about mood, memory, and meaning. A place that feels lived in, layered, and endlessly rich for storytelling, waiting patiently for your Sims to uncover what lies in its shadows.
