This community formed when several groups embraced their mutual connection to Horses and the land. The area soon became known as a hub for all things Equestrian: a town steeped in expertise with raising and training Horses, set against a beautiful and expansive landscape. Over time, the area became famous for another endeavor, as the rich soil brought in the new enterprise of Nectar Making. Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, the region flourished and became the Chestnut Ridge it is today.
Inspired by the sweeping deserts of the American Southwest, Chestnut Ridge draws from the arid landscapes of Arizona, Nevada, and Utah — with dramatic terrain reminiscent of the red rock buttes of Sedona. It’s a world shaped by sun-warmed earth, open skies, and a deep-rooted connection to horses, land, and tradition.
At its heart lies New Appaloosa, where Pueblo Revival and Territorial Revival architecture — inspired by historic towns like Santa Fe, New Mexico — bring warmth, texture, and timeless character to the town square. Beyond the centre, Chestnut Ridge opens into ranch-style living: low-profile homes with wide layouts, designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape and support a slower, more grounded way of life.
Whether your Sims are riding at sunrise, tending vineyards beneath the desert sun, or gathering with neighbours in the town square, Chestnut Ridge offers a lifestyle rooted in heritage, community, and the rugged beauty of the frontier.
🎨 Real-World Roots, Inspiration & Architectural Vision

Architectural forms, material details, and neighbourhood atmosphere inspired by the American Southwest and traditional ranch-style living.
Chestnut Ridge draws its inspiration from the arid deserts of the Southwestern United States, particularly regions across Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. The surrounding landscape echoes the sculpted red rock formations and dramatic buttes found in areas like Sedona, shaping a world defined by open skies, sun-warmed earth, and a deep connection to the land.
At the heart of the world, New Appaloosa reflects architectural traditions rooted in the American Southwest. Influenced by Pueblo Revival and Territorial Revival styles commonly found throughout New Mexico — especially in historic towns such as Santa Fe — the town centre features grounded forms, adobe-inspired textures, and a timeless, climate-conscious approach to design.
Rather than recreating a single real-world location, this makeover captures the essence of Southwestern ranch living, blending traditional architectural language with flexible layouts that support equestrian gameplay, family life, and long-term storytelling. The result is a world that feels cohesive, purposeful, and naturally shaped by its environment.
The goal is a neighbourhood that feels rooted and enduring — a place where daily routines unfold at an unhurried pace, homes sit comfortably within the landscape, and community life is shaped by shared spaces, outdoor living, and a strong connection to tradition.
The architectural vision for Chestnut Ridge is rooted in:
- Southwestern Pueblo Revival and Territorial Revival architecture, particularly within New Appaloosa
- Classic ranch-style homes, typically single-story with long, low profiles and wide, open layouts
- Natural materials such as stucco, adobe, stone, and exposed wood beams
- A warm desert palette inspired by sun-baked clay, weathered wood, sandstone, and muted earth tones
Rather than bold statements or ultra-modern builds, the focus is on authenticity, function, and comfort — homes that feel grounded, lived-in, and ready for real life. These are spaces made for early morning rides, shaded porches at midday, quiet evenings under wide skies, and storytelling that grows naturally over generations.
🗺️ Neighbourhood Planning & World Layout
Chestnut Ridge has been thoughtfully planned as a low-density, land-connected world, designed around open space, equestrian movement, and long-term storytelling — rather than tightly packed streets or urban-style zoning. The layout prioritises flow, visibility of the landscape, and a strong relationship between homes, community lots, and the surrounding terrain.
At its core, the world balances community-focused spaces with expansive residential areas, allowing Sims to move naturally between social life and quieter, routine-driven gameplay. Neighbourhoods are defined not by rigid boundaries, but by changes in elevation, land use, and architectural character, helping each area feel distinct while remaining visually cohesive.
The map on the left shows the neighbourhood structure used for planning and orientation, with lots grouped by residential function, community use, and equestrian or agricultural focus throughout the world.
The map on the right offers a visual interpretation of how Chestnut Ridge comes together once homes, landscaping, fencing, and shared outdoor spaces are in place.
