📚 Book Haul: Christmas Money, Birthday Treats & An Intentional Little Detour

When book money meets a spontaneous shopping trip… the plot thickens.

There’s something dangerously powerful about having Christmas and birthday money sitting in your purse at the same time.

Add:

  • An impromptu city trip with my mum
  • A bookshop I know like the back of my hand
  • And zero real intention of “just browsing”

And honestly? The ending was already written.

Waterstones was always going to be stop one.
The Works was absolutely happening.
And a few “since we’re here…” detours?
Purely for research, obviously.

Today I’m sharing a physical book haul that feels very me — a mix of:

  • Series-completion satisfaction
  • Long-time “seen you in the wild” temptations
  • And one book that basically whispered, take me home.

📖 What I Picked Up

⚔️ God of War – Rina Kent

This one felt like fate.

I already own God of Legacy, and this series is notoriously hard to find in shops. So I’ve made a rule for myself:

If I see a Rina Kent Legacy book in the wild… I buy it.

No hesitation.
No guilt.
Just commitment to the bit.

There is something elite about spotting a hard-to-find book in person. It feels like winning.

💔 Once Upon a Broken Heart – Stephanie Garber

Confession: I already own a book from this series.

Which one?
Don’t ask. Chaos reader behaviour.

But I knew I wanted to go back and start properly. So book one came home with me, as it absolutely should have. This one feels like it belongs in a winter reading stack with fairy lights and dramatic sighs.

💍 Bridesmaid by Chance – Meghan Quinn

At this point, I’m convinced this haul was subconsciously about finishing series.

This was another “complete the set” purchase — and Meghan Quinn is always reliable comfort. I didn’t overthink it.

It went in the basket.
And I felt instantly pleased with myself.

Which is really the only metric that matters.

✨ Lovelight Series – B.K. Borison (All Four!)

This was the moment.

The entire Lovelight series. In one go.
Found in The Works.

Honestly? A serotonin spike I didn’t know I needed.

There’s something deeply satisfying about seeing all four lined up together. It felt like collecting cosy season in physical form. Immediate yes. No further discussion required.

🧪 Alchemised – SenLinYu

I have been circling this one in Asda for weeks.

Every time I saw it, I’d think: next time.

On the way home, I finally listened to myself.

Sometimes restraint is overrated.
Sometimes the right answer is just: get the book.

And this one? It felt right.

🛍 The Non-Book Treats (Because Balance)

Because no haul is ever just books.

  • ✨ Two new bookmarks (vibes matter)
  • 🛁 Bath bombs from Lush (future me says thank you)
  • 🛍 A few bits from Primark
  • 😜 A Derpy Funko Pop, which my youngest was very pleased about

This was less “shopping trip” and more “main character montage.”

Truly well-rounded chaos.

💭 Final Thoughts & Come Chat With Me

This haul felt intentional — even in its spontaneity.

It was:

  • Finishing series
  • Trusting my taste
  • Letting book money be book money
  • And choosing physical copies simply because I wanted them

There’s something different about buying books in person.
The weight of them in your bag. The covers catching your eye. The tiny thrill of finding something you weren’t actively searching for. It’s not the same as clicking add to cart. It’s slower. Warmer. More romantic.

And very much the energy I want to carry into this new Between the Pages & Pixels era.

So now I need to know…

Have you read any of these?
Are you also a series-completion gremlin?
What’s the last book you bought purely because you spotted it in the wild and felt chosen?

Come chat in the comments — I love enabling bookish chaos. 💛📚
I’m very much in cosy, book goblin mode right now… and honestly? I don’t plan on leaving.
