Decorating season is officially underway…

👩🦰 What They Did
It’s decorating day!
Elvis and Toffee decided to “help” us deck the halls… although their version of helping quickly turned into full festive chaos.
One elf managed to get completely tangled in the tinsel while the other disappeared somewhere inside the fairy lights. At one point I’m fairly sure they were trying to decorate each other instead of the house.
Let’s just say they’re a little more decoration disasters than Christmas helpers.
But honestly? That kind of mischief feels perfectly on brand for day two.
🎬 Behind the Scenes
Usually we wait until the first Friday of the month to decorate, but this year we jumped straight in a little earlier.
There’s just something about this Christmas — it feels like everyone is reaching for a bit of extra sparkle and joy.
So after work I went straight into full festive mode:
✨ Outside lights first (while freezing, obviously)
✨ Then inside — getting the tree up and fluffing the branches
✨ Followed by the yearly wrestling match with the fairy lights
Once the boys got home from school, we all piled in together — hanging baubles, adding garlands, and slowly turning the house into our own little winter wonderland.
And honestly? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…
🎄 I am a full-on colourful Christmas decorator.
None of that white-and-gold minimalist aesthetic for me, thank you very much.
Give me:
💚 vibrant colours
💛 glitter
✨ mismatched decorations and joyful chaos everywhere
It’s messy, bright, nostalgic Christmas — and the elves clearly approve.

💡 Recreate It at Home
I don’t need to tell you how to recreate this one — every family has their own decorating traditions.
Whether you’re a minimalist tree-and-lights household or a full-blown tinsel tornado, the magic comes from making your space feel festive in your own way.
Let the elves “help”, embrace the mess, and enjoy the moment.Sometimes the simplest setups create the biggest smiles.
✨ Elf Hack of the Day
Keep a few “emergency elf excuses” written down for those nights when you forget to move them.
Classics like:
• Elf Flu
• Too Cold to Travel
• North Pole Zoom Meeting
…work every single time.
Future-you will be grateful when you’re half-asleep at midnight trying to explain why the elves didn’t move.
🎁 Join In the Fun!
What do your elves get up to on day two?
Do they help decorate… or create glittery chaos like mine?
💬 Share your elf setups in the comments — I’d love to hear the festive mischief happening in other homes.
