A rare kid-free morning, a rainy market wander, and a haul full of surprises.
✨ A Rare Kid-Free Saturday Morning
This never happens. Like, seriously — unicorn-level rare.
So when we suddenly had a kid-free Saturday morning? I grabbed my OH, threw on something vaguely presentable, and we were out the door before anyone could change their mind.
Our mission: finish the last of the Christmas shopping.
Naturally, this meant starting with a little wander through one of our favourite places…
Wellesbourne Market.
🛍️ Wellesbourne Market Chaos (ft. Umbrellas & Nostalgia)
Wellesbourne Market is such a blast from the past for us.
Before kids — back when weekends meant lie-ins and spontaneous adventures — we used to go nearly every week. These days it’s more of a rare treat, so wandering around together felt like a mini throwback date.
If you’re not local, Wellesbourne Market is one of the biggest open-air markets in Warwickshire. You’ll find everything there — clothes, tools, plants, toys, home bits, and the kind of random treasures you only discover if you dig around long enough.
It’s chaotic. It’s brilliant. And you never leave empty-handed.
🎁 Christmas Shopping: Completed It, Mate
We finally picked up the last present for the eldest (hallelujah) along with a few stocking fillers.
But because we are, apparently, just children in adult bodies… we also treated ourselves to:
• 2 Mystery Funko Boxes
• 1 Round-The-World Mystery Food Bag
Mystery purchases are very much our thing. The suspense! The chaos! The inevitable disappointment followed by the occasional legendary pull.
Honestly, it’s the adult version of a lucky dip.
🎮 Funko Box Chaos at Home
Once we got home (and the kids burst through the door like a stampede), we opened the mystery boxes together.
Here’s what we pulled.

Pop! Figures
Captain Action… twice.
Never heard of him before today, but apparently he’s been around since the 60s — thank you Google for the very speedy lore drop.
Not exactly jackpot territory, but still fun.
Soda Figures
Now THIS is where things got wild.
We opened the cans and somehow pulled two chase figures.
Actual gasp-out-loud moment.
Lottery-level luck right there.
Meanwhile the kids had already swiped half the mini figures before I could even photograph them.
Goodbye Mega Man, two mini Spider-Men, and a Scooby-Doo.
Gone. Claimed. Never seen again.
But I did claim one absolute treasure:
A Minnie Mouse 90th Anniversary mason jar cup.
She’s cute. She’s mine. End of discussion.
🌍 Taste-Testing the World
Next up: the Round-The-World Mystery Food Bag — which has become one of our favourite chaotic little traditions.
The rules are simple:
We each try everything.
And if one of us hates something… the other person has to finish it.
True love.
Highlights from the Snack Haul
There was a wild mix this time:
- Freeze-dried candy (pure crunchy chaos)
- Oreo wafer rolls from Vietnam
- Turkish cake balls
- Swizzels classics from the UK
- Airheads from North America
- A Milkybar Choo from India (honestly incredible)
Some things were instant favourites.
Others… not so much.
Looking at you, cheese Buldak ramen.
I wanted to like it. I really did. But that powdered cheese smell? I couldn’t get past it — and even I found it too spicy, which is saying something.
⚡ Bonus Find
And THEN — at the same stall — I spotted something that immediately went into the basket:
Monster Energy Juice – Viking Berry.

I don’t usually drink Monster, but honestly? This one is delicious.
And the can design is gorgeous.
Viking ships, bold colours, dramatic artwork — I’m a sucker for good packaging.
Instant add-to-basket moment.
📚 Friday Bonus Haul
Technically this happened the day before, but it deserves a mention.
After finishing the main Christmas shopping marathon on Friday, I treated myself to:
• A new book series
• A Starbucks hot chocolate (self-care, obviously)

Sometimes the best way to end a chaotic shopping day is with a warm drink and a brand new story waiting for you.
✨ Wrap Up & Join Me
So that was our slightly chaotic weekend adventure:
Rainy market wandering, mystery box luck, international snacks, spicy crisps betrayal… and a little bookish self-care to finish it off.
Honestly? The perfect mix of cosy chaos and small joys.
If you love random market finds, mystery snack hauls, or a little everyday adventure — you’re in the right place.
Grab a warm drink, stay a while, and come hang out here on the blog. 🧡
Until the next adventure.
