Life Update: Dog-Sitting, Benidorm Vibes & Big Plans šŸŒ“🐾✨

Whew, it’s been a little hectic lately — but in the best kind of way.

Right now, I’m in the middle of slowly (and I mean slowly) building up a whole bunch of Sims 4 things inspired by different TV shows. I’ve got builds, concepts, and chaotic brainstorming sessions happening all at once… but real life had other plans and swooped in with work, house stuff, and now — a surprise twist in the storyline: I’m currently dog-sitting and house-sitting for my sister!

Why, you ask? Because my wonderfully brave family have taken my boys on their first ever trip abroad — to Benidorm! So while the little ones are living their best lives on the beach and absolutely demolishing the all-inclusive buffet like tiny food critics on a mission. From what I’ve heard, they’ve discovered the joy of bottomless slushies and chocolate pancakes for breakfast. I’m getting photo updates full of pool floaties, sticky faces, and suspiciously large plates of chips. It’s chaos — but adorable chaos.

Back here, I’ve been granted the rarest of things: a whole week of quiet evenings. No bedtimes, no mess, just me, the dog, and the sweet sound of no kids arguing and fighting. šŸ›‹ļøšŸ¶
Which also means… I finally get to watch what I want on TV — so yes, I’ve gone straight back to my comfort zone of Friends re-runs (I will never recover from Ross and the leather pants).
Also worth noting: I’ve never known a dog who snores so loudly. He’s really living up to his old man age and honestly… I think I’ve met my match. (Apparently I can be quite the snorer too, but I feel like he’s winning the title this week.)

AND for the first time ever, I’m diving into the glorious madness that is Eurovision — the drama, the glitter, the key changes! I’ve been enjoying the semi-finals this week and I cannot wait for the grand final this Saturday. Snacks will be prepped. Scorecards will be made. So many good songs this year — I’m rooting for Malta as that’s my fave one! (because let’s be real, UK won’t be winning this year as always!).

Themed Date Night Dinners: A New Monthly Tradition šŸŽ¬šŸ“

While I’m using this downtime to rest and recharge, I’ve also finally started something I’ve been dreaming about: Themed Date Night Dinners!

Once a month, I’ll be planning a whole evening based on a different TV show, movie, game, or book — think themed menus, drinks, decorations, and something fun to watch or play that matches. It’s just for me and my other half (we’ve been together 15 years now — and let’s be honest, something new and exciting is long overdue!).

The twist? Each theme will be picked blindly from a stash of mystery envelopes I’ve put together, so even I won’t know what’s coming until we open it. It adds that little bit of surprise that I love, and let’s be real — I’ll find any excuse to make place cards and overdo the decor. Canva is basically my third arm right now.

✨ Our first one is actually this Saturday — and surprise surprise, the theme we pulled was Benidorm! Total cosmic timing considering that’s exactly where the kids are sunning it up. So while they’re sipping mocktails by the pool, we’ll be here having a laugh with themed snacks and watching The Solana crew cause chaos on screen, before switching over to the Eurovision final (because, again — Malta’s entry is such a tune this year!).

I’ve been super inspired by a few amazing Instagram accounts who do this kind of thing, and now I’m completely hooked. Between planning the menus, dreaming up table settings, and creating playful little touches, it’s become such a joyful creative outlet — and something just for us, which feels rare and lovely.

I might even start sharing our date night themes here each month… not 100% decided yet, but we’ll see how it goes!

That’s the update for now — real life’s been busy but beautifully full.
More Sims builds and cozy chaos to come soon. šŸ’»āœØ
